Noah's Baseball Video

This is Noah's season highlight video. The team will be getting their DVDs (different than this one, of course) at the team picnic in 2 weeks. Just finished burning all 15 copies.

Hope you enjoy!! (It's a little jumpy with rough transitions, I had to compress it to post it here. It looks better on the DVD on the TV, trust me.)

The start of another week

Damn! I just wrote this post and it POOF! disappeared.

So to the best of my recollection. Here goes.

I am just sitting around waiting to switch the laundry around. There won't be much downtime this week as the big Youngwood VFD carnival starts tonight.

D and I are working in the kitchen again this year. Apparently once you work in the kitchen and don't screw up too badly, you are stuck in the kitchen for good. Yep, that's us. We don't cook, we are just your friendly servers ... most of the time. Last year we had the same people every.single.night and some of them were NOT nice. Yeah, but I was ... so there!

Oh well, we get Friday off to attend a wedding reception. Noah will be in attendance a few nights as well. He works the bingo. This year he's saving all of his cash to buy the Star Wars Lego game for his Wii.

Peace! Jonna out.

(That's Noah's latest catchphrase, thanks to Phineas and Ferb!)

Happy 4th!

I trust everyone had a fun 4th of July. We had a blast up at the Blahovecs ... lots of laughs, great food, some fishing and sparklers galore.

The kids had a blast waving the sparklers all over the place. They must've burned through a couple hundred. Seriously, it was like a never-ending supply!

This is from my phone. It's pretty crappy, but I didn't think to take the good camera, so this is what ya got!!

Carnival coundown is on

The Youngwood Firemen's Carnival starts next week already! Darren and I worked our first carnival last year and it appears we did a good job ... because apparently we are stuck in the kitchen for good.

It really isn't that bad. There are a bunch of great people in there and they make it a lot of fun. We see the same customers every night ... most are pleasant ... some are not. And believe me, standing behind that counter is a great place to people-watch ... and there are some doozies!!

Noah loves carnival week too. He works bingo and gets paid and gets tips. Those little old ladies LOVED him last year. He saved up (almost) enough for an Ipod Nano. He's looking forward to pay day again this year. It's no wonder we call him Mr. Krabs!

See you at the carnival ... I'll be happy to serve you!!

3rd-place finish

The 7-8 tournament is over and our Youngwood Panthers made a respectable 3rd-place finish. The boys had a great year and finished at 16-4. The boys were sad the season was over, but seemed content with their trophies.

I just put the finishing touches on the season-highlight video (up to 5 songs this year!!) We are planning a picnic for the boys again this year in a few weeks.

We hate to see the season end.

Big, big tourney win!!

The Youngwood Panthers won an awesome game in 2 extra innings ... winning 9-8 over New Stanton.

Yes, it was the New Stanton team that handed us our first of two losses of the season. The boys got even when it counted. It was a game filled with bad baserunning, puking kids and some plain, flat-out just dumb luck. But we won!!!

Our bottom four batters all came through when it counted and won the game. Honestly, I felt like the boys had just won the World Series. It was that exciting.

The boys play Fort Allen Friday night @ 6 p.m. on the Main Field ... the only other team that beat them during the regular season!!

LET'S GO PANTHERS!!!

Call up to 9-10s

Noah practiced earlier this season with one of the 9-10 Youngwood teams, in the event they would need him later in the season.

Well the Youngwood Yankees needed him tonight. They had 3 kids away and needed to finish a rain-shortened game at Fort Allen. He was excited, but admittedly nervous. There are walks, base-stealing and yes, kids pitching.

He batted second, yes, second. I didn't think my heart would make it! He watched a few go by and then got a hold of one ... sending it down the third base line. He made it to first and then to second on a wild throw back to first. He then very SLOWLY stole third. On the next hit he scored, hallelujah!!

He got to a couple balls in the outfield and got them in pretty quickly. He struck out the next time up. That's something he's not used to, but he'll get the hang of it. He was told he'll most likely be getting the call the play in the 9-10 tourney that starts Sunday.

So much pressure!! Hopefully my mail-order blood pressure meds will arrive before then.
The 7-8 tournament continues tomorrow @ 6 p.m. at the Iddy Biddy Field.
