The most wonderful time of the year

Since I spend a goodly portion of the day at work, I have to decorate my space for the holidays.

I've toted that little tree through the 3 counties I've worked in during my 11+ years with the Trib. And the lights strung across my monitor (the IT guys LOVE that) were a gift from my friend Nicole. My old strand had burned out and I was having trouble finding a replacement string. The stores only had a few LED lights left in stock last week. So she picked these up for me at Rite-Aid down the street. She says the lights are a beacon to alert her that I am still here!

First game ... first loss

Not even sure what the score was but the Hempfield Spartans were annihilated last night in Latrobe. Seriously, it looked like the Globetrotters-Generals game, minus the comedic stylings of Meadowlark Lemon. The traveling program director assured me Latrobe is always a tough opener and that things will get better. I hope so ... although Noah was just thrilled to pieces with the evening. The boy loves basketball.

He got fouled (I think that's the correct terminology ... I think I need a book or something) and got to take 2 foul shots. He made the first one! Yay!! and missed the second, guess which one I videoed?

He also fouled some kid on the Wildcats, which was his biggest fear. We assured him that it's OK to play aggressively ... as our buddy Mr. Mike said, "A little gorilla ball is good." Haha ... prolly not something we should share with the boy, huh?

Anyhoo ... he's back at practice tonight and was happy to go. Next game is Sunday afternoon at 5 p.m. at Aquinas.

Baseketball season officially starts tomorrow night!! The Hempfield Spartans travel basketball team takes to the court at Latrobe Junior High School.

We are hoping for the best. If nothing else, the boy looks AWESOME in his new uniform.

Work is done for the week! Yay me!!

I had an early press run today to allow some work on the press. Not a problem ... 7 a.m. instead of 9 a.m. I was pleasantly surprised to hear Christmas music as walked out into the press room. A room full of burly pressman tuned into the little boom box to 3WS. Very cool.

My friend Beth invited me to lunch after work. Mmmmm ... Chili's. And then I headed out to Never Enough to spend some Xmas cash from my mom and some of the bonus money on a new Vera. Love it ... it's the Pleated Tote in Carnaby. Mom told me I can't use it til Christmas. I might have to give her the bag so I don't load it up!


The boy has basketball practice tonight, which will be followed up with Jioio's pizza. This is one great day!!
